In House cafe, Taipan - Awesome menu, ok food

This new cafe opened up within the past couple of years or less in Taipan (hard to keep track with all the shops that come and go in that area), along same row as Berry cake house. The thing that most impressed me about the place was the menu. It's a seriously nice looking menu, with lots of huge and nicely placed photos of the food, making everything look absolutely tempting. And there is a wide selection of food, ranging from local to western, Yong tau fu and bubble tea. It took me ages to decide on what to eat coz' everything looked really good. In the pictures, that is.
In reality, the food was not that great. Not bad, but not great. We tried three types of noodles. My dad tried the beef kuey teow which came in a big portion.

I tried Shanghai noodle with chicken chop, which was not particularly memorable.

And my mum ate some noodle with duck, which also not great.

What was pretty good was the Yong tau fu.

I also tried the bubble tea which was pretty good but tasted a bit like the powder type rather than natural flavouring.

Overall, I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. The extra 0.5 for the captivating menu, which unfortunately made the food look more promising than it could deliver.

The moral of the story is, don't judge the food by the menu! :-P
